A Moorlands pensioner has ticked off an item on her bucket list by publishing a book about her life.
Chrissie Birks, who lives in in Leek, has always wanted to have her life story in print and she has now done that with the help of a ghostwriter.
From having a pet monkey as a child, to being orphaned at just ten-years-old, and from having electric shocks at a mental asylum to being a great-grandmother of more than 40 – Chrissie Birks has certainly had some ups and downs in her 87 years.
Her book, which includes many photographs, tells Chrissie’s story of growing up in Scotland and how she came to live and create a huge family in the Staffordshire Moorlands – with all the trials, tribulations and escapades along the way.
‘My Life Story by Chrissie Birks’ is available to purchase for £3.99 at The Book Shop in Stanley Street, Leek.
