CCTV Images Issued in Attempted Armed Robbery Investigation

Officers have issued CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with an attempted armed robbery in Burton.

It’s believed the man, seen entering Max Spielmann in Station Street shortly before 5:30pm on Friday 4 December, was used as a distraction whilst two men carried out an attempted armed robbery opposite.

It’s believed he made false enquiries and stopped other customers from leaving whilst Carats Jewellers was raided.

It’s reported two men, pushed staff around, smashed Covid-19 protective screens and threatened staff with a knife before demanding a safe be opened.

When the staff could not access the safe, the pair fled the premises, getting into a white Ford Fiesta ST parked directly outside Barclays bank.

The third man, pictured, was also seen getting into the same car.

The two people, who carried out the raid, are described as one white male and one black male wearing black scarves over their faces, so only their eyes could be seen. One was possibly wearing a blue hoody and the other possibly a green jacket.

Anyone with any information should message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 469 of 4 December, call 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
