Coronavirus: 57 new cases recorded across the county as new restrictions announced


The current total of coronavirus cases in the UK stands at just above 403,500 after a daily increase of just below 5,000

Staffordshire now has a total of 4,791 cases after an increase of 42, of them 458 are in the Moorlands after a daily increase of 3.

Stoke-on-Trent is recorded separately from the rest of the county and now has 1,949, a daily increase of 15.

37 more people have died with coronavirus in the UK over the last 24 hours taking the total to 41,825.

New restrictions have been set out by prime minister Boris Johnson to help combat a second wave of coronavirus in the UK.
The new restrictions include:

  • Closure of Pubs, restaurants and hospitality venues at 10pm (excluding delivery services)
  • increased face covering restrictions
  • increased fines from £100 to £200 for failure to abide by face covering rules
