Police in Biddulph are setting up checkpoints to check if drivers are only making essential journeys.
The government restrictions only permit journeys for food, health reasons and essential work.
Police have the power to issue fines at £60 for first time offenders or £120 for a second offence, doubling on each further offence.
A police spokesperson said:
“Local officers are setting up checkpoints in the Biddulph area to determine wether drivers journeys are essential. Please ensure you are adhering to the governments instructions”
