Coronavirus: cases increase as Stoke-on-Trent adds further restrictions


The current total of coronavirus cases in the UK stands at just above 810,000 after a daily increase of 21,242.

Staffordshire now has a total of 9,001 cases after an increase of 296, of them 903 are in the Moorlands,an increase of 35.

Over the last 7 days 165 cases have been recorded in the Moorlands.

Stoke-on-Trent is recorded separately from the rest of the county and now has 3,242, a daily increase of 100.

Health secretary, Matt Hancock has confirmed that Stoke-on-Trent will be placed under high risk restrictions from 1 minute past midnight on Saturday after the city council applied to have the restrictions imposed. This means that from Saturday people in Stoke won’t be able to meet friends or family in any indoor setting

189 more deaths have been recognised taking the total to 44,347.
