Westwood college in Leek have cancelled two visitors abroad for pupils as the Government is urging schools to cancel any planned visits.
The school confirmed in a letter to parents from the Headteacher that they would receive a refund.
Students had been due to visit Paris and Krakow later in the year.
The world Health Organization say the epicentre of the Covid-19 pandemic has shifted to Europe
The letter to parents read:
“I regret to inform you that, due to the Coronavirus outbreak and following advice from the Government, our planned visits to Paris (June 2020) and Krakow (July 2020) will now be cancelled. Whilst we hoped to avoid this situation and to provide students with an enriching cultural visit, we feel it is in the interest of safety for all parties that we make this decision now.
Please be assured that any payments that have been made will be refunded in due course.
It is our hope that once the current situation eases, we will be able to plan these visits for the future. You will of course be kept informed of any such arrangements and given preference in terms of places, should you son/daughter wish to take part”
