Dundas adds two more to his Kidsgrove side

Kidsgrove Athletic manager Scott Dundas has signed two more players ahead of the 2020/21 season, which gets underway next Saturday when Chasetown visit in the Emirates FA Cup.

The latest to arrive at the Autonet Insurance Stadium are winger Danny Cocks and midfielder Oliver Hickman.

Cocks was previously with the club back in 2017 under former manager Ryan Austin. He has also played under Dundas at Norton, Newcastle Town and Chasetown.

Following his arrival, Dundas said: “I have had Dan with me for several years, I first took him to Norton, then he came to Newcastle Town with me, then to Chasetown and now to Kidsgrove.

“He has played for Kidsgrove before, so he is coming back. I was delighted when I eventually got him.

“It did take some prizing because he lives in Leicester, so it is a bit of a trawl for him. However, I know what he has got and I know what he can produce for us.

“I do not see many people at this level go past players how he does, and he gets assists, so I am pleased that Danny has decided to join us for the new season.”

Meanwhile, Hickman joins the club from Redgate Clayton.

The former Stafford Rangers and Newcastle Town man is said to have a bright future in the game and is one that we will see for years to come.

Dundas said: “He is a lad that played with my son Jack at Newcastle Town and he was at Stafford Rangers under 21’s. He was having a bit of a pre-season there and a bit of a pre-season with us.

“He has come in and has had a couple of 45 minutes with us. He has done well and, he is only a young lad so he will be one for the future and we are keeping tabs on him, so we will see how he progresses.”

The Grove are back in action tonight as they welcome Crewe Alexandra to the Autonet Insurance Stadium with a 7.30 PM kickoff. Then on Saturday, they welcome Runcorn Linnets to Staffordshire.
