It’s Derby weekend for the Buxton Hitmen as they take on Stoke Potters in the Travel Plus National League twice within the space of 24-hours with the first meeting taking place at Loomer road on Saturday, 7pm with the return at Hi-Edge Raceway on Sunday afternoon, 3pm.
Both sides will be using guests with Belle Vue Colts Joe Lawlor coming in to replace James Cockle while Stoke have drafted Kent’s Anders Rowe in for Tony Atkin while the Hitmen will use rider replacement for the injured Connor Coles and Stoke will use the same but for Rob Shuttleworth.
The Hitmen will be looking to continue on from their previous home meeting where they got the victory over Plymouth (51-39) for their first win of the season and despite going down to a 40-49 defeat against Kent they put up a battling display against the Kings.
Hitmen team manager Joshua Moss said “If we can ride as we did in our previous two meetings here at Hi-Edge then we will be in with a chance of gaining victory over Stoke but it will be difficult as they do have riders that ride our track well especially in Max Clegg and Paul Burnett at reserve and I’m sure they will be looking to cause us damage when they are riding points wise. We have Joe Lawlor coming in for both meetings and he rides both tracks well so hopefully he can score some big points for us and they will get us over the line.
At Stoke well we have riders that go well around there as I’ve said Joe (Lawlor) rides Loomer road well as does Ben Wilson who spent a season there and is really riding well and Tom Woolley also goes well around there and with Corban Pavitt coming on as he has who knows what could happen because I really believe we are capable of springing a surprise and getting something from this meeting.”
