Kyle Diskin returns to Kidsgrove Athletic as the club announce five signings

Former Kidsgrove Athletic fans favourite Kyle Diskin has returned to the Autonet Insurance Stadium.

Diskin was with the Grove last season before departing in November for North West Counties side Congleton Town as he looked for a fresh challenge having scored twice in 12 games for the Northern Premier League South East division outfit.

The winger worked with new Kidsgrove manager Scott Dundas at Norton United, as the Smallthorne based club enjoyed a fantastic rise to the Northern Premier League.

Dundas said: “I had him at Norton United and he was tremendous for me there and, he is developing into a really good ball playing midfielder, so I’m looking forward to working with him again.”

Another former Grove player returning is Ricky Bridge. The left back was with the club before joining Leek Town in 2011 and then Chester FC. He was also with Port Vale and Manchester City’s academy as a youngster.

Three new players have also signed for the Grove in right back Will Byers, midfielder Jake Lovatt and forward Callum Lovatt.

Jake and Callum played under Dundas at Chasetown, while Byers is a right back who joins from North West Counties side Stone Old Alleynians.

The club has also announced their first two friendlies ahead of the 2020/21 season.

On Wednesday 2nd September, League one new boys Crewe Alexandra will visit the Autonet Insurance Stadium. The Alex are managed by former Kidsgrove player David Artell.

While on the 15th August they will visit Rocester FC of the Midlands Football League with that game kicking off at 3pm.

The club have said that the fixtures are subject to the latest advice from the FA and the Government.
