A 41-year-old man from Burton has been sentenced after committing drugs offences in Burton.
Robert Doughty, of Casey Lane, was sentenced to four years and six months in jail after being found guilty of two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
The first count refers to an incident on Tuesday 9 February 2021 where Doughty was seen to approach a suspicious vehicle on Dallow Street. He was witnessed taking part in a transaction and was detained a short time later. Cash and two phones were found on him and he was arrested for drugs offences. A search of his home address saw £330, scales, class A drugs and a phone seized.
Doughty was arrested shortly after 2pm on Monday 29 March after officers carried out a stop and search on Albert Street. He was found to be in possession of heroin, a mobile phone and had £590 stashed in his waistband and sock. A search warrant was subsequently carried out at his home address and cash, scales and drugs related paraphernalia were seized by officers.
Detective Sergeant Jon Bradbury, of Staffordshire Police’s Disruptions Team (South), said: “We are delighted with the sentencing of Hough for his involvement in the supply of drugs in Staffordshire. We hope this serves as a warning to anyone else currently involved in similar activities, or perhaps thinking of becoming so.
“We will continue to pro-actively seek out and disrupt all drugs activity on the streets of Staffordshire in our attempts to make the communities we serve a better place to live.”
