Moorlands MP Welcomes £1,509,245 funding boost for Staffordshire

Karen Bradley, Member of Parliament for Staffordshire Moorlands has welcomed the announcement that Staffordshire has been granted £1,509,245 from the Conservative Government’s £200 million UK Community Renewal Fund, which will support 3 projects – Innovation and Productivity Pathfinder, Staffordshire Means Back to Business and Carbon Reduction and Sustainable Energy Creation Programme.

In total, the UK Community Renewal Fund will support around 500 locally-led, innovative projects across the UK, helping breathe new life into towns, villages and coastal communities as the Government delivers on its mission to level up the nation.

The £200 million fund will also help local areas prepare for the launch of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in 2022, the scheme that will see UK-wide funding at least match EU investment, reaching around £1.5 billion a year.

As part of the levelling up agenda, the Government is spreading opportunity and improving public services, boosting living standards, restoring local pride, and empowering local leaders and communities.

This fund is in addition to the £4.8 billion Levelling Up Fund, which will invest in infrastructure to support economic recovery, as well as the £150 million Community Ownership Fund, which empowers communities to take ownership of treasured assets such as local pubs, post offices and football stadiums at risk of closure.

Commenting, Karen said:

“I welcome the announcement of £1,509,245 of new funding from the UK Community Renewal Fund for Staffordshire which will fund vital projects in our community, boosting the local economy and creating opportunities.”

Secretary of State for Levelling Up Michael Gove said:

“We are levelling up in every corner of the United Kingdom, backing locally-led projects that will make a real difference to communities and help to deliver our net zero commitments.

“There is incredible talent spread right across our great country and this investment will unlock the opportunities to match.”
