Roadworks to improve pedestrian safety in brown edge have begun

Roadworks on Clay in brown edge to improve safety for pedestrians have begun.

The Roadworks set to last six weeks will see a number of crossings installed for pedestrians however the work is set to cause delays.

  • The work will involve
Installation of an uncontrolled crossing point across the junction of Broad Lane and also on Breach Road
  • Construction of a foot way at the side of the carriageway between Broad Lane and Edge Lane
  • Installation of Pedestrian Crossing warning signs on the approach to an existing uncontrolled crossing point on Clay Lake, and on the approach to the new uncontrolled pedestrian crossing point near Broad Lane.

A speed reduction to 30mph will be implemented at a later date.

Joe Porter, District councillor for Endon and Brown edge welcomed the work:

“ I’m delighted that the County Council have listened to the views of local residents across Endon and Brown Edge and are taking action to address long-standing highways safety issues, particularly for local schoolchildren.”
