Stoke City fold to Premier Leicester in cup mauling

Stoke (0) 0 Leicester (1) 4 – 9/1/21 3pm FA Cup

Stoke were beaten by Leicester at home in the FA Cup for the first time ever (!)…but then the Premier League side looked head and shoulders above the Championship Potters.
It was a fairly routine encounter, with decent Leicester goals from flowing moves.
On 28th minute Stoke had their big moment when Vokes had his usual clear-cut chance right in front of goal (headed to him by Capt Ryan Shawcross), but somehow (!) Sam scooped it over.
But slick & superior Leicester scored a beaut on 33.40 minutes as James Justin cut in from the left & curled it into the far corner. Bursik didn’t even move as he had no chance.
It took till 58.55 minutes for Albrighton to sweep down Stoke’s vulnerable left, losing McClean, cut in & beat Bursik easily for 2-0 for Leicester.
Michael O’Neill made changes on 64.30 minutes when Thompson, Collins & Rabbi Matondo replaced Clucas, Smith & Batth. McClean joined a back 4 of Ryan, Harry & Collins (on right). Matondo replaced McClean up front.
But on 78.09 minutes it was 0-3. Another well-crafted goal, this time by Perez, as the ball fell perfectly for him.
Less than 2 minutes later on 80.02 minutes it was 0-4. A counter attack left Stoke’s back 4 vulnerable, and Barnes’ deflected shot beat Bursik.
Stoke may have battled hard, but they were well beaten. They will be concentrating on the league!
