The Potteries Centre Set to Celebrate One Great Day with Family Day of Fun

Visitors to The Potteries Centre this Saturday will be treated to a day of family fun in celebration of national charity event, One Great Day, which takes place on 04 September. Now in its sixth year, the annual event seeks to inspire, engage and empower communities to make a difference by getting involved in a series of local fundraising events to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and a local children’s charity close to the hearts of communities across the UK.

In honor of the day, The Potteries Centre has chosen the Alice Charity as their local cause to raise funds for. Based in Staffordshire, the charity provides emotional and financial support to families across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme who are experiencing difficulty.

To help raise funds to support the cause, the shopping centre has an exciting day full of family games and charity challenges in store for visitors. These include a human fruit machine, Candy and her Floss Heads’ mobile candy floss stall, Helter Skelter coconut shy circus entertainers, kids crafts and glitter tattoos. There will also be a decorated window duck hunt where families can pick up a trail sheet and take part in finding decorated ducks hidden in store and restaurant windows around the centre to win a prize. For those who love competitions there is also the chance to win a K’NEX Ferris Wheel.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Amy Whittaker, general manager of The Potteries Centre, said:

“We are really excited to be able to celebrate One Great Day with our customers this weekend. Not only is this a lovely opportunity for families to enjoy a fun day out post lockdown, but also to raise money for two very important charities.

“Support for our local community is something that is always really important to us, so in addition to raising funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital, we also chose to raise money for local cause, the Alice Charity, to help support the wonderful work they do for families across Staffordshire.

“It’s set to be a really fantastic day with a little something for everyone, whether that’s the chance to win a prize in our competitions, a few giggles from live performers or the chance for families to get involved with arts and crafts. All donations made on the day will be shared equally between both the Alice Charity and Great Ormond Street Hospital and we can’t wait to treat visitors to one great day whilst also raising as much money as we can for two worthy causes.”

Events on the day will take place from 11.00 am and 4.00 pm on Saturday 4th September. To find out more about One Great Day at The Potteries Centre, visit https://potteriescentre.co.uk/one-great-day/
