On Sunday, November 11 the Werrington Community Volunteers Group will be unveiling their latest poppy display which this year will commemorate the centenary of World War One.

The special feature has been designed by Jean Fryer, constructed by Chris Lewis and decorated by village folk. This new theme follows on from the village’s Poppy Man two years ago and last year’s Windmill. However, the theme this year will remain secret until the unveiling.

The day will also include the lighting of a special brazier which has been made by David Gray which will be used afterwards as a flower display for Werrington in Bloom.

All the events will take place At the Rock Monument by the Jubilee Garden. At 2pm there will be the service by the Rock Monument, which will be followed by a service at St Philips Church after which there will be a special WW1 reception in the Village Hall.
