Appeal After Dog Jumps on Child Outside Stoke-on-Trent School

Police are appealing for information after a dog reportedly jumped on a small child outside a junior school in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers were called at  10.20am on yesterday (27 May) to Alexandra Junior School on Meir Road.

Two reports were received of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier-type dog running from a nearby property and jumping on a small boy who was with a woman, believed to be his mother, on the footpath.

One witness described a man and a woman, believed to be the owners, wrestling the dog off the child before carrying it back into the property.

The woman and her child were reportedly highly distressed but left the scene shortly afterwards.

Officers would like to confirm that the mother and her child are okay and are urging them to get in touch.

Anyone with information should contact Staffordshire Police on Facebook, Twitter, or call 101, quoting incident number 172 of 27 May.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
