Appeal Following Fatal RTC in Blythe Bridge

Police are appealing for information after a woman died in a road traffic collision.

Staffordshire Police was called at 6.30pm on Thursday (15 April) to the A50 Blythe Bridge at the junction of the A521 East following reports of a collision between a car and a HGV.

Officers attended along with colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Two casualties were located out of a white Vauxhall Insignia saloon car with serious injuries.

A woman in her 60s was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later.

A man, also in his 60s, sustained significant chest injuries in the collision which were deemed life-threatening.

He was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment where he remains in a critical condition.

Highways England closed the west and eastbound carriageways while debris was cleared from area.

A collision investigation is underway.
