Audio: Neil Baker speaks to Moorlands Radio following Leek Town’s playoff semi-final

Leek Town’s season came to a rather disappointing end last night as they lost 3-1 to Runcorn Linnets in the Northern Premier League West Division playoffs semi-final.

First-half goals from Lewis Doyle and Eden Gumbs gave Runcorn Linnets a 2-0 lead going into the half-time interval.

However, Tim Grice pulled one back for Leek on 52 minutes and, you just thought that the Blues were going to come back into the game. Sadly, that was not the case just 60 seconds later their hopes of a comeback were extinguished as Ryan Brooke scored Linnet’s third goal as he profited on some unfortunate goalkeeping from Danny Roberts.

It means that Leek Town will face another season in the Northern Premier League West division. While Runcorn Linnets will head to Workington on Saturday to contest the Playoff final to see who follows Macclesfield into the Premier Division of the Northern Premier League.

After the game, Blues boss Neil Baker came up to the press box to speak to Dave Stringer from the commentary team to give us his honest assessment of the match.
