Best Kept Village Community Competition Continues but with Adaptations

This year, considering the events and timescales that surround the government guidelines in relation to covid-19 and our priority to keep people safe, The Community Foundation have made the decision not to run the usual BKVC competition, but instead, will be asking communities, whether a community within a town, a village or even a street or housing development to showcase what they have achieved.

Through photographs, video footage, local articles, and good news stories this is an opportunity to shout about the great things that go on within your community. A chance to celebrate yourcommunity efforts and community spirit.

BKVC County Sponsor Richard Winterton of Richard Winterton Auctioneers said:

“This past year has been such a rollercoaster for people everywhere from all walks of life.”

“Lockdowns and other restrictions have truly underlined the importance of friendship and
community and people have been coming together digitally more than ever before.”

“We are all eager for the day when the danger of this terrible virus is diminished to the extent
that the country can begin to open up safely.”

“But I am sure that the gigantic wave of community spirit which rose to help everyone through
these dark days will continue to thrive.”

Terry Walsh, trustee of The Community Foundation and chair of the Best Kept Village Community steering
group, said:

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the photos and videos from villages and communities across the county – and I’m excited at the competition’s full return in 2022”.

Jo Cooper, Business Development Officer at The Community Foundation, and co-ordinator of the Best Kept Village Community competition said:

“Whilst we were really excited for 2021 and hoping to conduct the competition as normal, we have to listen to the advice and keeping communities safe is our number one priority. We cannot wait to see how the community spirit across Staffordshire has shone through and next year BKVC will be back!”
