Buxton Leek College is Helping Adults to Find Work

Buxton & Leek College is pleased to announce the launch of two new programmes that will help adults, aged 19+, to find secure employment or progress within a current job.

The two programmes: Traineeships and Return to Work, are designed to educate adults by developing skills and knowledge that will equip them to become more employable, whilst gaining qualifications to enhance their CVs.

Claire Poole, Operations Manager at the College said:

“These programmes will provide real job opportunities for adults in the local area at a time where employment is high and there are challenges within the jobs market.

“Adults in both Staffordshire and Derbyshire can gain access to quality training, as well as develop essential functional and digital skills.

“An added benefit of the Return to Work programme is that students aged 24+ in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Universal Credit can step-off the scheme at the point they find employment, so it won’t affect their benefits.”

The programmes have four key elements:

  • A focused period of work preparation with a training provider, covering areas like CV writing, interview preparation and job search.
  • A basic skills element with English, maths and digital where needed.
  • Flexible vocational learning and qualifications.
  • Traineeships – a high-quality work experience placement with an employer and an opportunity to develop workplace skills.

Any adult that wants to find work or progress in their existing role should contact Buxton & Leek College. Call 0800 074 0099 or complete the online application form: https://www.blc.ac.uk/traineeship-return-work-application-form/
