To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Staffordshire Day, children turning ten this year are being invited to enter a special birthday prize draw for a chance to win a fun day out for all the family.
Staffordshire Day, taking place on 1 May, marks ten years of celebrating everything that makes the county unique and the birthday of the county’s new visitor mascot, Staffy.
To mark this occasion, children also celebrating a tenth birthday this year are being invited to share their dream day out in Staffordshire for the chance to win a family day out at a top visitor attraction.
One winner will be selected at random and will be able to enjoy a fantastic day out at their chosen attraction over the Staffordshire Day bank holiday weekend.
The competition forms part of a wider programme of events taking place across the county, including the launch of the Staffy Trail. This is a major new public art experience delivered by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) in partnership with Making Trails.
The trail will feature a series of large sculptures of Staffy appearing across Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford and Tamworth, encouraging people to explore town centres, discover local stories and support local businesses.
Robin Hall, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills, said:
“Staffordshire Day is all about celebrating our county and bringing people together, and this is a fun way for young people to be part of that.
“We’re proud that Staffordshire is the nation’s playground. It’s full of exciting places to visit and things to do, and we can’t wait to see the ideas children come up with for their perfect day out.”
Parents or guardians must complete the entry form on behalf of their child and, by entering, confirm they are aged 18 or over.
Entries close on Thursday 23 April, with the winner being announced the following day.
