Deadline approaches for voter ID and proxy votes in the General Election

Residents in the Moorlands are reminded they will need photo ID to vote at polling stations in the General Election next month.

Acceptable forms of ID include passports, photo driving licences and bus passes.

Anyone without ID can get a free Voter Authority Certificate.

The easiest way to apply is on-line.

Just search for “Voter Authority Certificate” and go to the gov.uk page.

The deadline for applications is 5pm tomorrow (26th June). Tomorrow is also the deadline for anyone wanting to apply for a proxy vote – allowing someone else to vote on their behalf.

Anyone having difficulty in the Moorlands can ring the Electoral Services Team for advice – by calling 0345 605 3015.
