Dougie Mac Welcome Supporters Back to Their Leek Shop

Further easing of lockdown restrictions saw hundreds of shoppers back through the doors of Dougie Mac’s Leek shop earlier this month.
Dougie Mac retail which accounts for more than 30% of the hospices £13 million yearly running costs saw a record breaking day of sales as over £21,000 was generated on their first day of trading on 12th April 2021.
Liz Clarke, Head of Charity Trading said:
“Our shop closures have been devastating and we estimate we have lost approximately £2 million of revenue after being closed for over 5 months of 2020. Our shoppers in Leek are fantastic supporters of the hospice and we hope we can rely on their continued support.”
The re-opening of the popular shop will see revised opening hours of Monday-Saturday 9.30am-4.30pm. Supporters will be able to browse the rails of Dougie Mac’s new boutique section following a small redesign in September 2020; as well as donate their pre-loved goods.
Liz and the retail team have been delighted by the overwhelming levels of donations since their re-opening:
“We have received some superb donations and we’re so grateful to everyone who has saved items for us. If you have items you are looking to pass on to a new home, please drop them into us and help raise vital funds for our specialist care services.”
All Dougie Mac shops continue to operate in accordance with Covid safe practices including social distancing signage, hand sanitiser stations and till screens.
Liz continued:
“Now summer is approaching, we have lots of wonderful fashion, home and garden ware in store so pop in and pick up some bargains. After such a phenomenal first couple of weeks trading in Leek, we are feeling incredibly positive and looking forward to a successful return to the high street.”
