Friday 10th March is Dougie Mac Day! Previously known as “Bring a Pound Day” the popular fundraising day has been re-named to make sure people know they’re supporting their local hospice. To mark this special day the hospice has called on supporters across the local area to celebrate Dougie Mac by coming together and doing something special on Dougie Mac Day.
Head of Fundraising, Donna Adams, explained, “We’re so excited for Dougie Mac Day on Friday and we’ve already heard from lots of businesses, schools, clubs and individuals who are taking part. From cake sales to raffles, fancy dress competitions to coffee mornings, we’re hoping it will be lots of fun and of course raise lots of money to enable us to continue our priceless care services for local families.
“This is a special year for Dougie Mac as we’re celebrating 50 years of care and it’s the continued support and generosity of the local community that has enabled us to reach this milestone. Quite simply we couldn’t continue year after year to provide our specialist care services without the wonderful support we receive. Whether you’ve organised a fundraiser at work, at school, at your local pub, club or gym, or even with your friends and family you can help us make every pound count.”
It’s not too late to take part in Dougie Mac Day – for more information and ideas of how to get involved go to www.dougiemac.org.uk/dougie-mac-day
Staff at Dougie Mac’s hospice sites and shops across the local area will also be joining in the Dougie Mac Day fun. Donna added, “We’re encouraging our staff dress up in something yellow on Friday, there will also be raffles and tombolas for staff at our hospice sites and a staff Bake Off competition – so I can’t wait to see what tasty treats colleagues bake.
“We’ll also be holding roadside collections at the main traffic lights in Blurton and Trentham, as well as outside seven of our local shops. So if you see our teams with their buckets please say hello, give them a wave and donate what you can, every pound really makes a difference.”
Supporters can also make a donation via text – simply text CASH followed by the amount you wish to donate (eg CASH5 to donate £5) to 70450. *Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.*
