Holy Trinity Eccleshall Hosts Immersive ‘Stations of the Cross’ Art Exhibition

Holy Trinity Parish Church Eccleshall is issuing a final call to experience a landmark art event before the arrival of Holy Week. Local Staffordshire fine artist Victoria Heath’s ‘The Stations of the Cross’- a monumental collection of 15 oil paintings- has transformed the interior of this historic Grade I listed Church building.

The works are on view daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm until 1st April 2026. This is the public’s last opportunity to witness this powerful reimagining of the Passion of Christ in such a storied setting before the exhibition concludes for the Easter season.

The exhibition carries a profound message of perseverance. The artist, Victoria Heath, a practicing Christian living with Multiple Sclerosis and failing vision, has poured hours of physical and spiritual effort into these works. Her journey of creating large-scale art while facing a degenerative condition serves as a powerful metaphor for the Easter message of hope emerging from hardship.

While rooted in the story of Christ, Heath’s work is designed to reach out to people of all faiths and none. By placing the viewer “at the scene” of each station, the imagery highlights the humanitarian bonds that unite us all – compassion, suffering and the strength of the human spirit.

Artist Victoria Heath said: “This project has been a deeply personal journey of faith and perseverance. I have painted the journey of Christ from a single, intimate viewpoint- the eyes of whoever stands before the canvas. My mission was to bring the teachings of Jesus into our present world by focusing on the raw human emotions of the Passion. Despite my own struggles with failing sight, this work has been the most elating of my career, and I invite everyone to walk this path with me before the exhibition concludes.”

“For those wishing to continue their reflection at home, a devotional A5 collector’s pack of the complete Stations is available for purchase at the church or online.”

Reverend Phillip Johnson of Holy Trinity, Eccleshall, Staffordshire said: ”We have been honoured to welcome so many visitors to this powerful new art installation at Holy Trinity Parish Church this Lent. The Stations of the Cross by Victoria Heath has already touched many hearts, but as we approach the end of the season, we want to issue a final invitation to those who have not yet experienced it.

Each of the 15 monumental pieces invites quiet contemplation and offers a rare space for prayer, reflection and stillness. Open daily to all, this dynamic and deeply human interpretation encourages us to reflect on suffering, compassion, hope and the bonds that unite us all.

We invite every member of our local and wider community to join us during these final days of Lent to view, observe and reflect on this extraordinary work before Holy Week begins. All are warmly welcome.”

The monumental paintings remain on display daily (10am–4pm) until 1st April, serving as a powerful visual meditation ahead of the following Holy Week services:

  • Palm Sunday (29th March): 9:30am Procession with Donkey (starting at High Street Crossroads), followed by 10am Sung Eucharist at Holy Trinity.
