Hospital Radio presenter completes 24 hour non-stop radio show to raise funds for charity

A hospital radio presenter has successfully completed a 24 hour non-stop radio show to raise money for his local studio.

On New Year’s Eve, Hospital Radio Stafford’s Into The Night presenter Ben Hodgson began the marathon at 5pm, finishing at 5pm the following day.

Donations and requests came in from hospital patients, online listeners and his fellow presenters.

The money raised from the event currently stands at £700 but donations will still be welcome until Sunday January 10.

Presenter Ben Hodgson said: “Thank you to everyone who got involved, for the requests that we received, the presenters who took time to call and listen in and all your words of encouragement.

“Hopefully, it helped kick off your 2021 in style and promises a better and brighter future for us all this year!”

Hospital Radio Stafford has been broadcasting since January 1972 and is still going strong, providing a 24 hour entertainment service to patients in Staffordshire hospitals.

The service is entirely staffed by volunteers and, as a registered charity, relies on fundraising to stay in operation.
