Leek Town Legend Faces His Biggest Battle

In the latest of the In Conversation With… series Dave Stringer caught up with Leek Town legend Steve Norris.

Steve was known as a battler on the pitch and now faces a battle in his personal life following a diagnosis of early-onset dementia. Steve talks frankly about his illness and about his life in football.

Steve who is known as ‘Nogger’ played nearly 400 games for Leek Town over two spells with the club. The pinnacle of his Blues career was representing the club in the FA Trophy final at Wembley in 1990. He was also signed by Port Vale and represented the Fire Service at a national level.

Steve was in the Fire service for 30 years but always managed to fit in his involvement with the local non-league scene.
