Local clubs learn their FA Cup fate as Macclesfield get a reunion with old league rivals Wythenshawe

The early rounds of the Emirates FA Cup, Isuzu FA Trophy and Isuzu FA Vase were made today, and Macclesfield FC face a trip to old North West Counties League rivals Wythenshawe Town in the extra preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Silkmen topped the North West Counties Premier Division last season with Wythenshawe finishing some 16 points behind Danny Whittaker’s side in 3rd place. However, in the last meeting between the two sides back in January, it was Wythenshawe who ran out 4-2 winners.

Other ties involving our local teams include
AFC Wulfrunians v Newcastle Town
Hereford Lads Club v Hanley Town
Abbey Hey v Congleton Town

The matches will take place on the weekend of the 6th August 2022, with the winners receiving £1,125, while the losers will pick up £375.

We’ve also had the draw for the preliminary round, which sees Leek Town and Kidsgrove Athletic enter the competition.

Leek Town will host either Atherstone Town or Gresley Rovers at Harrison Park, while Kidsgrove will visit either Lye Town or Heather St Johns.

Mossley v Wythenshawe Town/Macclesfield FC
AFC Wulfrunians/Newcastle Town v Coventry Sphinx/Bedworth United
Hanley Town/Hereford Lads club v Evesham United or Hinckley LR

These games will take place on 20th August with the winners pocketing £1,444 while the losers will collect £481.

In the Isuzu FA Trophy, Leek Town have received a bye to the second qualifying round where they will face Coleshill Town or St. Neots Town.

Meanwhile, Macclesfield, Hanley, Newcastle Town and Kidsgrove Athletic will all play in the first qualifying round of the competition, their ties are as follows.

Macclesfield FC v Tadcaster Albion
Kidsgrove Athletic v Hinckley LR
Newcastle Town v Spalding United
Carlton Town v Hanley Town

Those games will take place on the 10th September with the winners from those games receiving £1,500 while the losers will collect £400.

The second qualifying round draw was also made earlier today. The ties for that round are as follows.

Macclesfield FC/ Tadcaster Albion v Widnes/Skelmersdale United
Kidsgrove Athletic/Hinckley LR v Cambridge City/ Yaxley
Kempston Rovers/Dereham United v Newcastle Town/Spalding United
Daventry Town/ Lincoln United v Hanley Town/Carlton Town

On what has been a busy day at the FA’s headquarters, the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds of the Isuzu FA Vase have been made.

In the first qualifying round, Abbey Hulton United will host Khalsa Football federation. The tie will take place on Saturday 27th August.

If they can defeat Khalsa Football Federation then they will visit Tividale on the 24th September in the 2nd qualifying round and, they will be joined in the second qualifying round by Alsager Town. The Bullets will visit either Bilston Town or Racing Club Warwick.

Congleton have a bye to the first round proper.
