Local Trust is Celebrating Best Staff Survey Results Ever

A local Trust is celebrating one week ahead of finding out whether it is the Health Service Journal’s mental health Trust of the year.

Midlands Partnership NHS Trust has had the best staff survey results in its history; in a year where the NHS has been pushed to its limits, fighting an international pandemic.

Each year, a national survey is conducted of all staff that gives them an opportunity to say how it feels to work in the NHS.

The questions are grouped into ten themes, which allows organisations to be compared.

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust scored above average in all ten themes while seeing statistically significant increases in all themes.

The themes include; equality, diversity and inclusion; health & wellbeing; morale; and team working.

95% of those who responded to the survey agreed that the organisation takes positive action on health and wellbeing.

Neil Carr, Chief Executive, “This is a phenomenal achievement, given the challenges of the last 12 months. I am incredibly proud that our staff have felt supported. Valued staff provide better care to the people they are looking after and that’s a fact.”

There was a 10 point increase in those staff saying that communication between senior managers and staff was effective. This is more than double the increase seen by the best performing Trusts.

Alex Brett, Director of People, said “Over the last 12 months, it has been so important to stay connected with our colleagues; helping to keep them and our patients safe.

“Being open and honest with staff is how we do things at MPFT and I believe it has helped us recruit more staff, retain the ones we have and build a culture of going the extra mile.”

The Trust will know on 17th March whether it has been crowned mental health provider of the year by the prestigious Health Service Journal.
