Macclesfield FC take the honours on Derby Day as they beat Congleton Town

Macclesfield FC claimed a 3-1 derby day victory over Congleton Town. However, they had to do it the hard way as they came from 1-0 down to win the game.

Former Leek Town captain Darren Chadwick opened the scoring from the penalty spot on three minutes when Ollie Putnam, another former Leek Town man was brought down in the area.

However, James Berry-McNally levelled up proceeding 10 minutes when he scored another excellent goal to take his tally to 18 for the season.

After the break, Macclesfield captain and birthday boy Laurent Mendy scored two well-taken goals to give the Silkmen the spoils at Crewe Alexandra’s Gresty Road.

We will have reaction from both camps to the game on the website over the weekend.
