Man jailed after nine phones and £5k in drugs found

A man has been jailed after nine mobile devices and an excess of £5,000 in drugs were discovered in Stoke-on-Trent last year.

Reece Edwards, aged 27, of Providence Lane, Walsall, was sentenced to four-years behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday (5 April) after admitting charges of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

The court heard how officers searched Edward’s address on Whieldon Road, Fenton, on 8 September.

A large bag of crack cocaine, valued at approximately £2,700, was discovered inside of a bedside drawer – along with two bags of cannabis, two mobile phones and a quantity of zip-locked deal bags.

A further search of the property uncovered two scales, three mobile phones, a large bag of cannabis and £135 in cash.

Police also discovered £475 in cash and a further four mobile devices in Edward’s Vauxhall Astra, which was parked nearby.

Approximately 218 grams of cannabis was seized in total, with an estimated street value of over £2,100. Over 30 grams in crack cocaine was also seized, with an estimated value of over £3,000.

Sergeant Marc Proctor, of Stoke South neighbourhood policing team (NPT), said: “Officers worked diligently to compile extensive intelligence leads before executing this warrant.

“I am happy with the sentencing and hope this assures the local community of the fantastic work in which the NPT continues to conduct in order to apprehend those intent on criminal gain.

“These individuals can cause extensive damage in our communities and are continuously targeted by dedicated teams who are committed to disrupting drug supply across Staffordshire”.
