Man Jailed for Stoke-on-Trent Attack

A 20-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been jailed after another man was attacked at a hardware store in the city.

Steven Banks, of Beverley Drive, Bentilee, was sentenced to two years in prison for the attack on Wednesday 27 May 2020 at the Screwfix on Leek Road.

He will also face a further two years in jail for a number of unrelated drugs offences after appearing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Banks was seen to drive up to his 39-year-old victim shortly after 5:30pm on the day of the attack. He kicked, punched and stamped on the man before driving off at speed.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his face, liver and spleen.

PC Daniel Pearce from Staffordshire Police said: “Banks’ attack was violent and left his victim in hospital with a number of serious injuries.

“He’ll now serve a total of four years in jail for this offence and a number of drug related incidents. I hope this sentence as a real deterrent for those looking to commit violence in our county.”
