Man Jailed over Drug Offences

A man has been jailed over a number of drug offences in Blurton.

Ryan Mountford, aged 18, of Meaford Drive, Blurton, was handed a one-year-sentence at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday (17 November).

The court heard how officers conducted a warrant at a property on Finstock Avenue in Blurton on 3 April 2020.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a quantity of class A and B drugs.

Mountford was arrested and later charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, heroin and making an offer to supply cannabis.

He then admitted the offences in court.

On Tuesday (16 November 2021), Mountford was sentenced to a one-year-term at a Young Offenders Institute (YOI).

His drugs and associated paraphernalia were also seized and destroyed.

Speaking of the sentencing, Sergeant Marc Proctor, of Stoke North Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), said:

“I am pleased that the judge saw fit to place Mountford in the custody of a YOI.

“Mountford has had a profoundly negative effect on the community and continues to be problematic.

“I hope this significant sentence reassures the residents of Blurton that we will do all we can to disrupt drugs supply in our communities and tackle any related criminality.”
