Olympic Bronze for Staffordshire Boxer

Super heavyweight boxer Frazer Clarke from Burton in Staffordshire has won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Frazer won the quarter final fight on Sunday morning against Mourad Aliev after the French boxer was disqualified.

The Staffordshire boxer has been part of the GB boxing squad for over 10 years and this is his third Olympics. Frazer won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2018.

Congratulating Frazer on winning the bronze medal, Alan White, Leader at Staffordshire County Council said:

“I’d like to say a huge well done to Frazer on what was a well-deserved medal. I know he’s trained incredibly hard for this and it’s his third Olympics but it shows what can be achieved through hard work and determination.

“Staffordshire has been well represented at the games and we’re very proud of all our Olympians’ achievements. Not only have our sports stars helped to raise the profile of our amazing county but they are a great role model for our young people too, helping to inspire the next generation of Olympians and Paralympians.”
