Parking charges to be introduced at Consall Woods

Parking charges are to be introduced at a Moorlands beauty spot.

The RSPB have announced parking charges will start for visitors at Consall Woods in June 2023. In a social media post, they said:

“Many of you will be aware that the RSPB took over the management of the former Consall Nature Park from Staffordshire County Council at the end of 2019 and we now call it RSPB Consall Woods.

“Currently we receive almost no income from visitors at #RSPBConsallWoods, but we have a number of ongoing costs including the regular cleaning of the toilets, servicing of the dog waste bins, tree safety work and habitat management. We would love to do more to enhance the experience of those living in or visiting this lovely site and to help the conservation of its wildlife, consequently we are planning introducing parking charges for those using the site from June this year.

“At RSPB Consall Woods the RSPB are keen to protect this enchanting valley and so plan to introduce parking charges from 5th June 2023, to help support its management.

“The charge will be split, 1 hour will cost £1 per car, over an hour will cost £3 per car. Parking is free for RSPB members, as it is on all our reserves.

“Charging for parking allows us to financially support our charitable purpose of conserving wildlife and its habitats, while maintaining and improving the visitor facilities and providing excellent, inspiring experiences for our visitors at Consall Woods.”
