Detectives are appealing for information and reminding residents to safeguard their vehicles following an incident in Cheadle.
Police received a report at around 9am on Monday (17th June) that a man had been interfering with a black Range Rover parked at an address near Tean Road in the early hours of the morning.
On this occasion nothing was taken. Officers have examined CCTV and made house-to-house enquiries. They are now appealing for information and for other potential victims to contact them.
Detective Constable, David Stubbs, said: “Over the past month, we have seen a number of social media posts by drivers saying they have returned to their vehicles to find items have been taken in Cheadle and Tean.
“We are investigating a number of individuals for vehicle and theft-related offences in the area and are appealing for members of the public, who have been victims, to come forward if they have not yet done so.
“We are also urging people to ensure they lock their vehicles, especially overnight, and to not store valuable inside. Also make sure that all doors, windows and sunroofs are closed and locked and where possible, leave vehicles in clear view of CCTV and in well-lit areas.”
