Congleton Town Mayor’s Civic Awards 2026 are shining a spotlight on the people who hold our community together.
The Community Involvement Award recognises individuals who take significant responsibility in community efforts — whether organising events, improving neighbourhood facilities, supporting charities in their spare time, or helping individuals in need.
At last year’s awards, Sue Taylor was recognised for her decades of dedication to Girl Guiding, demonstrating the powerful and lasting impact one committed volunteer can make.
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Robert Brittain said: “Strong communities don’t happen by accident —they are built by people who step forward, take responsibility and give their time generously. If you know someone who plays a vital role in Congleton life, please nominate them. Let’s give them the recognition they deserve.
There are seven award categories: Community Involvement, Young Volunteer, Art and Culture, Environment, Wellbeing, Good Neighbour, and Team Award. A special Unsung Hero Award will also be selected by the judging panel. The awards recognise unpaid volunteers who make outstanding contributions to the Congleton community.
Members of the public are invited to submit nominations using a short online form on the town council’s website: Town Mayor’s Civic Awards 2026 – Congleton Town Council. Before completing the form, nominators should read the award criteria carefully. The closing date for applications is Friday10 April 2026.
To make your nomination stand out, write from the heart in your own words. Be sure to cover the essential details: who you are nominating, what they have accomplished, why they deserve recognition, where their impact has been felt, and how they have made a difference.
The winners will be celebrated and presented with a certificate and commemorative badge by the town mayor at a special ceremony during the Annual Town Meeting on Thursday 14 May 2026.
