Second Man Charged and Another Arrested in Connection with Stoke Attack

A 31-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been charged in connection with an attack in Cobridge earlier this month.

Salim Ullah of Wentworth Grove, Sneyd Green is the second man to be charged in relation to the incident on Sunday 9 May. He’s been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Ullah, who was remanded in custody having appeared at court this morning, was detained after armed officers carried out a search of a property in Wolverhampton early yesterday morning.

A 27-year-old man from Wolverhampton was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He’s since been released under investigation.

The attack, which left a man in his 20s with serious injuries, took place just before 11pm on Sunday 9 May in the Church Terrace area of Cobridge. The victim continues to receive treatment.

Islam Mirza of Birches Head Road, Stoke-on-Trent, has been remanded in custody having previously been charged with Section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Two other men, aged 32 and 35 and from Stoke-on-Trent, were released on police bail having been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the days following the attack.
