Three new signings for Hanley Town as Green, Whitehouse and Ofori check in

Hanley Town have announced their first three signings ahead of the 2023/24 season.

They have re-signed defender Josh Green, who was part of the Town side that won the Midlands Football League in the 2021/22 season. Former Stafford Rangers goalkeeper Adam Whitehouse and striker Tyrone Ofori have also joined the club.

Josh Green played in all but five games back in the 21/22 campaign as they claimed the MFL Premier trophy at the first attempt. He also chipped in with three goals that season against Lye Town, Stone Old Alleynians and Wolverhampton Casuals.

The right back chose to spend last season playing a bit closer to home as the lad from Shrewsbury turned out for Shropshire-based side Shifnal Town, where he helped them to a top-eight finish in the Midlands Football League.

As well as Shifnal, Green has played for Shrewsbury Town, Fleetwood Town, Market Drayton Town, Macclesfield Town, Cefn Druids and Chester amongst others.

Meanwhile, Ryan Shotton’s second signing is former Stafford Rangers Number one Adam Whitehouse.

The goalkeeper played more than 200 times for the Marston Road club since first joining the club in March 2014. He was also part of the Rangers side that won the 2015/16 Northern Premier League 1st Division South.

Whitehouse has turned out for the likes of Boldmere St. Michaels and Rushall Olympic since leaving Stafford.

The third signing sees the arrival of young pacey forward Tyrone Ofori at the Low Cost Roofing Stadium.

Ofori started his career at Aston Villa, Shrewsbury Town and Tamworth before heading out to Italy for a short spell with Cavese.

The forward was back in the UK ahead of the 2019/20 season when he joined Welsh Premier League side Newtown. He would spend a year with the Robins before transferring to Cefn Druids.

He was to return to England in October 2021 when he joined Northern Premier League side Stafford Rangers before, moving to Rushall Olympic after three months with the boro. Last season Ofori was turning out for Midlands Football League side Shifnal Town.
