A woman has died following a flat fire in Stoke-on-Trent.
Police were called by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service at 11.19am on Wednesday (6 April) to Tollgate Court on Trentham Road in Longton.
Officers attended along with West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Sadly, a woman in her 40s was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later. Her next of kin has been informed.
Formal identification will take place in due course. A file will shortly be prepared for HM Coroner.
Officers helped to evacuate a total of 10 residents from the flats and are continuing to work with the local authority to ensure they are rehomed.
