Man charged after two defrosting cars stolen

A man has been charged after two cars were stolen whilst they were defrosting in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Police were called to an address near Newchapel Road yesterday morning (Monday 12 December). The owner of a Renault Clio left their car to defrost until it was stolen.

A short time later, police received a similar report near Park Avenue. A Dacia Sandero had been left unattended whilst defrosting and was stolen.

Then, at around 10am, they found the Dacia abandoned nearby.

Daniel David Boulton, aged 31, of no-fixed-address, was arrested and charged with aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage under £5000, using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance, driving a motor vehicle which had been taken without the owner’s consent, driving a motor vehicle dangerously and driving whilst disqualified.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before North Staffordshire Justice Centre later today (Tuesday 13 December).
