A series of highways improvements in Leek are due to start on Monday 9 March.
Being delivered by Staffordshire County Council, highways crews will carry out the nighttime works on various roads across the town.
Crews will be carrying out preparatory works and repairs which are expected to take around six weeks to complete. The works are ahead of a preventative treatment for the roads scheduled for next year.
To make sure the improvements can be carried out safely, a combination of temporary overnight road closures and traffic lights will be in operation. Overnight closures are expected to start at 8pm until 6am the following morning. Signed diversions will be in place as required and access for residents will be maintained wherever possible.
The roads involved in the works are:
- Macclesfield Road, Monday 9 March – Thursday 19 March
- Mill Street, Friday 20 March – Friday 27 March
- Cheddleton Road, Monday 30 March – Thursday 2 April
- Compton, Tuesday 7 April – Monday 13 April
- St Edward Street, Tuesday 14 April – Friday 17 April
- Southbank Street, Monday 20 April
Patrick Allen, Cabinet Support Member for Highways North at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“These are further important works for Leek town and part of our wider investment to improve roads right across the county. “Engineers have planned the works carefully to help minimise any inconvenience for the life of roads whilst they are still in good condition. “As always, our crews will be doing their best to get the work done as efficiently as possible and we thank people in advance for their co-operation.”
