The wait is officially over for Stoke-on-Trent’s foodies. Panko & Sushi is opening its doors at Goods Yard later this week, bringing a sumptious taste of Japan to the heart of Capital&Centric’s buzzing canalside neighbourhood.
Taking over a stylish 1,650 sq ft spot on the ground floor of the apartment building, the independent kitchen is set to open on Friday 13th March. The kitchen will be busy dishing out their signature mix of fresh sashimi and hearty katsu curries to a crowd of locals, commuters, and residents.
It’s the first restaurant to open at Goods Yard, the new neighbourhood featuring 174 design-led rental homes, 30,000 sq ft of workspace and a stack of spaces for independent bars, restaurants, coffee shops and stores – all built around a lush, green public square that’s already become a new go-to spot for locals and visitors.
The arrival of Panko & Sushi offers a laid-back dining spot that spills out onto the public square – perfect for everything from quick lunch breaks to long evening catch-ups. During March diners will get 30% off their food bill, with deals also in place for students including a £9.95 Bento meal.
Founded by Edward Cayton, who has 27 years of experience in the hospitality industry and a passion for Japanese cuisine, Panko & Sushi focuses on high-quality, authentic flavours with a modern twist. Their move underlines the growing draw of this new neighbourhood, with the all the homes fully let within weeks of opening.
Tom Wilmot, Joint Managing Director at Capital&Centric, said:“It’s mega to see Panko & Sushi open at Goods Yard and do what they do best. We always said Goods Yard would be different, not just a place to sleep, but a proper destination with thriving indies at its core. Having Ed and the team opening really cements that community feel. It’s authentic and it’s exactly what we set out to build.”
Edward Cayton, founder of Panko & Sushi, said:“Goods Yard is the perfect fit for us. We’re really excited to be part of the neighbourhood’s regeneration and to be working with a socially driven brand like Capital&Centric. To celebrate, we’re offering 30% off food for everyone throughout this month, and we’ve got some great deals lined up for students from the nearby University too.”
