Bakes Swaps the Blues of Leek for the Blues of Castle [Audio]

Yesterday it was announced by Newcastle Town that they had dispensed of the services of manager Paul Moore. Just a few short hours later, the legendary former Leek Town manager Neil Baker was confirmed as the new gaffer at the Red Industries Stadium.

In just 24 short hours the board of Newcastle Town took a hard decision to act swiftly in a bid to halt is undeniably a poor run of form.

It was clear that Paul Moore had no inkling of his fate whilst being interviewed by Moorlands Radio Sport’s Dave Stringer immediately after Newcastle’s 3-0 at Leek Town. Indeed, he was confident that he could change the club’s fortunes in the games to come.

The Newcastle Town Chairman Gav Appleby decided that a change was needed, and that decision was cemented by the news that Neil Baker would be interested should a vacancy arise.

Paul Wright, Baker’s assistant at Leek Town up until the start of the current season, is expected to be named as his assistant.

There is no doubt that Gave Appleby’s decision to appoint Bakes has had a massively positive impact across social media and the Newcastle fan base will hope there will be a ‘new manager bounce’ when they face Hanley Town on New Years Day.

In his first interview since his appointment, Neil Baker speaks exclusively to Moorlands Radio Sport’s Dave Stringer – listen below:
