Congleton Town draw Lincoln United away in the 3rd round of Isuzu FA Vase

Congleton Town have been drawn away to Lincoln United in the 3rd round of the Isuzu FA Vase.

The team based at Ashby Avenue were members of the Northern Premier League for nearly 30 years before relegation to the United Counties League Premier Division North at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Despite the relegation, they have made a reasonable start to life at step five. They have won nine of their 11 league games so far which puts them 3rd in the league table, eight points off the top spot which is currently occupied by Sherwood Colliery.

In the FA Vase, they defeated Bugbrooke St. Michaels and Heanor Town to reach this stage of the competition.

While on Saturday, the Bears defeated Loughborough Students 3-1 at the Cleric Stadium thanks to goals from Darren Chadwick, Max McCarthy and George Sankey.

It was their first FA Vase match of the season having been given a bye to the 2nd round due to their exploits last season when they made the semi-finals of the competition, only to lose to Newport Pagnell Town on penalties.

The tie is scheduled to take place on Saturday 2nd December 2023.
