Dedicated Medic Wins Prestigious Staffordshire Chamber Of Commerce Employee Of The Year Award

A dedicated medic, who has trailblazed transformational change for Staffordshire’s pre-hospital emergency services sector has been awarded the Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce Employee of the Year Award.

Dr Mark Nash, who resides in Newcastle-under-Lyme, is the medical director for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and a senior anesthetist for University Hospital North Midlands NHS Trust. Not only does Mark take an active role in leading the pre-hospital emergency service’s clinical team, but he also does weekly shifts on-board the charity’s air ambulances – one of which flies from Staffordshire’s Tatenhill Airfield.

Dr Nash was nominated for the award by his peers at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for his strategic input and innovative thinking. Amongst his responsibilities, Mark supported the lifesaving charity in successfully applying for Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration which it achieved in under a year.

Mark’s unfaltering dedication does not end there, as he also plays an active role in supporting the development of the charity’s clinical team undertaking annual reviews with each member of the 60-strong clinical team, as well as creating bespoke training plans.

Mark was crowned Employee of the Year at the 2023 Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce Awards in July.

Hanna Sebright, chief executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Mark Nash’s commitment to our pre-hospital emergency service knows no bounds. Under his careful guidance we have achieved a lot in quick succession, in addition to the almost 4,500 missions a year that we attend.

“Mark was intrinsic in enabling our charity to gain its Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration. That was just the start, since then Mark has facilitated the implementation of our Clinical Standards Committee, became our Caldicott Guardian (the person responsible for protecting patients’ confidentiality), authored our clinical standard operating procedures, clinical aide memoire and patient group directions for both our doctors and critical care paramedics.

“Mark’s strong working ethic and initiative fully supports our ‘one team’ culture and his tireless work has instilled a sense of togetherness across the whole organisation. We are so proud that such a deserving individual has been awarded this esteemed accolade from the Staffordshire Chamber.”
