Home-Start Staffordshire Moorlands seeking volunteers

Home-Start Staffordshire Moorlands, the local early years family support charity, is seeking volunteers interested in joining Home-Start to support local families.

Home-Start provide support to families with young children across the Moorlands district with a vibrant home visiting service matching volunteers from the community with families seeking support and help.

Home-Start volunteers join a network of over 13,500 trained volunteers right across the UK, all making a difference to the families they support. The scheme has a range of opportunities available, depending on the time an individual has to commit and the skills and experience they have. This can range from weekly home visiting, to helping at groups, providing short term specialist advice or helping on an occasional one-off basis.
Most importantly, volunteers enjoy a real sense of doing something worthwhile and feeling part of the local community in a very positive way. As one of the volunteers put it “It is rewarding to see the change in families that you work with, that you have made a difference to at least one family”.

Louise Walker, Manager added: “the peer support from another parent can provide families some reassurance that they are not alone and helping hands in a very practical way, which in the early years can make a vital difference. Our next training course for volunteers will start on 16th March, so if you are interested in finding out more about us, please contact us – we’d love to hear from you”.
