Karen Bradley MP – Weekly Update (17th July 2023)

I hope that you are enjoying reading about each week’s Reason to Visit the Moorlands.  We are now at week 7 and I am delighted to announce that my Reason to Visit the Moorlands this week is Werrington and the Werrington Community Volunteers Group (WCVG).

I am extremely proud to have been involved with the WCVG for many years – they have really made Werrington such a special place for both local people and visitors. The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service they were awarded is a testament to their hard work.

Over the years, I have seen the development of the community run library as well as many great new projects such as the community shop within the library, the Wellbeing Programme, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Garden, the Youth Club held at the Methodist Church, sports facilities for all and the Kids2Kidz project which seeks to make Christmas special for disadvantaged children across the Staffordshire Moorlands.

There are fantastic events taking place throughout the year including Werrington in Bloom, Scarecrow Weekend, Halloween Weekend, seasonal craft fairs including a Christmas market & light switch on and of course the Fun Days at the Meigh Road playing fields.

My recent visit coincided with a British Heart Foundation fundraiser they had organised – it was great to see everyone out and about having fun and supporting such a great cause. Werrington is certainly a fantastic reason to Visit the Moorlands. I hope that many of you will be able to visit and support some of the many events that are taking place
