Leek Town hoping to continue unbeaten league run going as Colne visit the F Ball Community Stadium

Leek Town will be hoping to extend their unbeaten league run as they welcome Colne to the F Ball Community Stadium in the Pitching In Northern Premier League West Division.

Leek have not lost in the league since matchday two when Macclesfield came away from the Moorlands with a 3-1 win. Since then, the Blues have taken 29 points from 13 games which is an impressive return considering they have visited fellow promotion contenders Workington, Mossley and 1874 Northwich.

Colne are unbeaten in their last three away trips in the league, which includes a 1-0 win at Newcastle Town where Lucas Weaver’s goal was enough for them to take all three points.

Northern Premier League West league leaders Macclesfield will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat at Runcorn Linnets on Tuesday night. Lewis Fensome had given the Silkmen the lead before Ryan Brooke and Jamie Rainford turned the game on its head for Runcorn. Macc were not helped either by the red card to debutant Kane Drummond and an injury to goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga.

This weekend Macclesfield make the journey back into Merseyside as they visit ninth-placed Prescot Cables. The Tigers of Prescot are unbeaten in their last two games having drawn 1-1 against City of Liverpool before winning 1-0 at Hanley Town last weekend.

Kidsgrove Athletic can be in the playoff places come 5 pm if they take all three points at Widnes.

After a slow start to the season, the Grove have now won four of their last six games including last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Clitheroe. The game contained a momentous moment for Josh Thorpe, who scored his first goal in more than two years having recovered from an ACL injury.

Meanwhile, Widnes are rooted to the bottom of the league table and have lost their last three games including a 3-0 defeat at Leek Town last week. Although Widnes fans will argue they are improving following the arrival of Michael Ellison, the former Runcorn Linnets manager took over in September.

Newcastle Town will be hoping for their first win in three games as they visit Trafford FC.

Robin Van Der Laan’s men could be knocking on the door of the playoffs, but that defeat to Colne was followed up by a disappointing defeat to relegation threatened Ramsbottom United. Despite the poor run of recent form, it has been a successful season so far for Castle as many people had tipped them to be in for another tough season.

Hanley Town might not be able to win at home in the league, but on the road, they normally have no issues as they’re unbeaten in all but one of their away trips this season, a 4-1 defeat at Leek Town being the anomaly.

This weekend they head to Witton Albion, who have struggled on their return to the 1st division picking up just five wins in their opening 15 games. Although they were the first team to beat Macclesfield in the league this season.

In the NPL Premier Division, Nantwich Town will hope to make it five games unbeaten as they host Marske United. Ritchie Sutton’s men have picked up wins against Ashton United, Morpeth Town and Radcliffe FC as well a point at home to league leaders Gainsborough Trinity in recent weeks.

Marske have won once in their last seven games- a 1-0 win against Warrington Town a fortnight ago. Although the side from the North East are still in the FA Trophy having won 2-1 at Matlock Town last weekend.

If you cannot make a game this weekend, then we will have all the action in the Saturday Sport Show in association with Leek Building Society from 2pm on Moorlands Radio. Over the weekend, we will also have a round-up of all the games being played.
