Leek Town pick up a useful point in Cumbria as they draw 1-1 with Workington

Leek Town remain unbeaten on the road this season as they drew 1-1 at old friends Workington.

The visitors broke the deadlock on 19 minutes when defender Olly Harrison turned on the edge of the area before rifling the ball into Alex Mitchell’s goal after Workington failed to clear an Oliver Shenton corner.

However, the lead lasted just over 10 minutes as they gave the ball away to Josh Galloway whose cross found Workington captain David Symington and the man, who is so often Leek’s nemesis up in Cumbria, made no mistake in side footing the ball past Dino Visser.

The woodwork came to the rescue for both sides in the second half. First Brendon Daniels saw his header bounce off the bar and into the grateful hands of Mitchell. In contrast, Symington saw two efforts hit the bar.

Leek have Visser to thank for ensuring that a point was coming back down the M6 as he pushed away Steve Rigg’s close-range effort in the final minute of injury time.

After the game, I spoke to Josh Brehaut live on Moorlands Radio during the Saturday Sport Show to get his reaction to the game.
